The internet traffic has been growing ever since the last year. According to a research by the TeleGeography, the internet service providers in the United States are struggling hard to keep up their services with the increasing internet traffic. Many ISPs have imposed download limit on the users with heavy downs. The figures from the research by TeleGeography don’t exactly associate with the average Internet usage by U.S. households, but it does give an indication of wider trends and heavy internet usage.
The big increase came in regions where the Internet is less mature. Traffic between the U.S. and Latin America more than doubled. International Internet capacity on ocean-spanning optical fibers increased 62 percent. On average, Internet traffic now uses just 29 percent of the available bandwidth.
According to TeleGeography research director Alan Mauldin the number of new broadband subscribers has been falling since 2001, but that the overall increase in Internet traffic remains high due to the increasing demand for online video.
